Stevie Starr talks about a salt shaker

Last time Stevie Starr, famously known as “The Regurgitator,” was in Ames, he left quite an impression.

During his stay in town last spring, Veishea entertainer Starr went out to eat at a local restaurant. While at dinner, Starr became bored and started swallowing random objects spread across the table. He vividly remembers swallowing sugar packets and bringing them back up. But his most memorable object came next.

He noticed a small salt shaker across the table and its “absolutely perfect shape” intrigued him. After pouring the salt out, Starr called his waitress to the table and asked for the shaker to be refilled. As the waitress reached out to grab the shaker, Starr swallowed it whole.

“She ran away, freaking out,” Starr laughed.

Ames is not the only place where Starr has performed random tricks in public. While boarding a British plane to Italy, Starr swallowed his boarding pass and brought it up for the flight attendant. The airline was not as welcoming as the Ames community, and Starr was asked to leave the flight.

“I was flown back home on an Italian airline. The British one had no sense of humor,” Starr said.
