The Ames Piano Quartet will be joined by Des Moines Symphony Violinist Misha Rosenker for a performance at the Ames City Auditorium on Saturday.
The Quartet is made up of professors in the ISU music department: Pianist William David, Violinist Mahlon Darlington, Ciolinist Jonathan Sturm, and Cellist George Work.
“The combination of its lush string sound, blended with the orchestral quality of the piano, produces an exquisite and rare sonority,” wrote Janet Klass, Ames Town and Gown publicist, explaining that having a piano in a string quartet is unique.
The Quartet’s performance will finish Ames Town and Gown’s 60th season. During the past year, the chamber music organization has hosted musicians from around the country as well as a variety of local talents.
After each show, the public is welcome to meet and talk with the performers.
