After a long hiatus, Beavis and Butt-head have returned to television. And let me tell you, brother, the wait was worth it.
The characters have not been re-vamped or even really altered from who they were back in the day. And this single choice is enough to make the newest season of “Beavis and Butt-Head” into a surefire winner.
The two are still as socially inept and insensitive as ever, and the only change to the format of the show is a good mix of music-video viewing and reality television, namely “Jersey Shore.”
With how much bad reality TV is out there — as if there is really any other kind — it only seems logical for the obnoxious duo to make their armchair evaluations of the slutty or idiotic activities of the “Jersey Shore” cast. With any luck, the shows Beavis and Butt-head insult will span the entirety of television.
I don’t have to go into details for those that liked “Beavis and Butt-head” back in the day about how awesome it is to have them back, but for those youngins that are not readily familiar with the show, I have one thing to say: “Watch and learn. Because this is what you should be watching if you want to laugh.”
I can find nothing to complain about. The show brings back fond memories and will deliver laughter constantly. The only folks I might see not embracing this are the very folks it makes fun of episode to episode; and even then, I think they will like it.
“Beavis and Butt-Head” is one of those important pieces that have been missing from the puzzle in order to make current television programming worthwhile.
Maybe “Daria,” “The Ren & Stimpy Show” and “Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man” will make a return. Long live the ’90s!
